Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart Reveal More with Closer

Written by on July 12, 2018

The Chainsmokers seemingly unstoppable radio hits have let fans and new listeners get to know the duo’s sound and message. They have managed to move through genres interchangeably amongst their songs but their heart and soul has always been electronic music which is reflected in each of their albums released so far. What may have surprised even the most loyal listeners with their latest single, “Closer,” were the vocals of Andrew Taggart, one half of The Chainsmokers duo.

Latest single “Closer” marks the first time the now-seasoned duo have leant their own vocals to a track. Pairing up with up-and-coming singer Halsey, “Closer” has proven to be a near-instant hit in a string of commercial successes for The Chainsmokers. Both Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart want to reveal even more of themselves in their music, connecting with fans not just through beats, but lyrics and vocals as well. Their hope is to bring more emotion as artists to their songs and further establish their identity as electronic performers and what that means to them. At shows, fans will have the treat of watching Andrew perform in a completely different way, watching him sing a track for the first time. The pair intends to keep evolving as artists and plan to take the genre and fans along for the ride. Instead of faceless DJs behind a booth, they want to continue to expand their identity in a new way for electronic music.

The Chainsmokers started with Alex Pall DJing in New York City, building a career through his passion for music. It was when he met up with Andrew Taggart that the two went to work creating hits together and first released the track “#Selfie” which brought them instant fame. Since then, they have collaborated with huge vocalists like Chris Martin, Rozes, and Drew Love. The pair are building upon their success and plan to release their second studio album in 2018.
