
Gretchen K. Robinson: A Valuable Member of Roosevelt Island’s Executive Staff
Gretchen Robinson is the Vice President of the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC), a corporation based in the New York State. It operates and maintains Roosevelt Island which is located in the East River between Manhattan and Queens. Robinson joined RIOC in September 2019 and has since been a crucial member of the executive staff. She has also been recognized for her significant contributions to the community.
Before joining RIOC, Gretchen Robinson served as Deputy General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. She has also worked at several law firms and held various positions in government, including serving as Assistant Attorney General in the Litigation Bureau of New York State Attorney General’s Office. Robinson’s extensive legal expertise and experience make her a valuable asset to RIOC.
Roosevelt Island has a rich history, and RIOC plays a crucial role in maintaining and developing the island’s infrastructure and services. Recently, RIOC unveiled a new entrance pavilion and green roof at Jack McManus, a project that Robinson oversaw. Robinson is also involved in philanthropic efforts on Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation. In 2020, the Roosevelt Island Public Purpose Fund, which is managed by RIOC, awarded $150,000 in grants to 13 nonprofits. Robinson stated that the fund’s goal is to “build a stronger, more resilient community.”
Gretchen Robinson is also recognized for her dedication to historical preservation. The New York Post featured her and her husband in an article about their unique living situation in a converted dormitory on Roosevelt Island that was once part of the New York City Lunatic Asylum. Robinson and her husband have preserved the historical elements of their home while also adding modern amenities.
